I have a HP laptop 17t  cn300 running windows 11.  It disconnects and reconnects from the internet constantly.  I have followed helpful instructions and it is still disconnecting.  Do I need to contact HP?

Hi @Marti902

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it is when your laptop keeps disconnecting from Wi‑Fi every few minutes, especially after you’ve already tried a full reinstall and followed earlier instructions. You’ve been patient in testing, and that helps us focus on the right recovery path.

Let’s go through a deeper set of checks that often stabilize the Realtek RTL8852BE adapter on Windows 11:

Step-by-step actions

Update the Realtek Wi‑Fi driver directly from HP

  • Go to HP’s driver page for your model:
    https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
  • Enter “HP 17t-cn300” and download the latest Realtek RTL8852BE Wi‑Fi 6 driver.
  • Install and restart your laptop.

Adjust advanced adapter settings

  • Press Windows + X → Device Manager → Network Adapters → Realtek RTL8852BE → Properties.
  • Under Advanced tab:
    • Set “Roaming Aggressiveness” to Medium-Low.
    • Set “Preferred Band” to 5GHz if your router supports it.
    • Disable “802.11n/ac/ax Mixed Mode” if instability persists.
  • These settings reduce frequent disconnects.

Disable power saving for Wi‑Fi

  • In the same Properties window, go to Power Management.
  • Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”
  • Click OK and restart.

Run HP Network Diagnostics

  • Download HP Support Assistant here:
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support
  • Open the app → select your device → run Network Check under Troubleshooting and Fixes.
  • This scans for adapter and configuration issues.

Assign a static IP

  • Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Wi‑Fi → Hardware Properties.
  • Note the IP address.
  • In your router settings, reserve this IP for your laptop.
  • This prevents frequent reconnects caused by DHCP lease changes.

Test with another network

  • Connect to a mobile hotspot or a different Wi‑Fi router.
  • If the issue disappears, the problem lies with router compatibility.
  • If it persists, the adapter configuration needs further adjustment.

You’ve already shown persistence by reinstalling Windows and following earlier steps. If after updating the driver and adjusting adapter settings the disconnects continue, testing with another network will confirm whether the issue is with the router or the laptop.
