Hi:
Your notebook may or not have a BIOS whitelist. Whitelists were being phased out at the time your notebook was made.
Make sure your notebook has two antenna wires installed because some of the 450 G1's only have one antenna wire and a dual band card will need two.
The safest thing to do would be to install one of the supported dual band Wi-Fi adapters listed in chapter 1 of the service manual. The adapter you buy should have the HP part number on it for best results.
Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260AN 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi + BT4.0 HP part # 717381-001
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (1x1) WiFi with Bluetooth 4.0 combo HP Part # 710662-001
If you want to experiment with a Wi-Fi card not listed in the manual, try either one of these:
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP Part # 710661-001
Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo HP part # 724935-001
This discussion indicates that the Intel 7260 AC card I posted should work provided your notebook has two wifi antenna wires.

You will either have to install a second antenna wire or connect the single antenna wire to the wifi adapters auxiliary connector for both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to work acceptably.
