Help.  .my laptop wont connect to the network even after I have input the correct password

I know how frustrating it is when your HP laptop refuses to connect even after entering the correct Wi-Fi password. Let’s troubleshoot this step by step:

Step 1: Forget and Reconnect

  1. Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → Manage known networks.
  2. Select your network → Forget.
  3. Restart your laptop and reconnect by entering the password again.


Step 2: Reset Network Settings

  • Press Win + R, type: 
  • ms-settings: network
  • Scroll down → Network Reset → Restart after reset.


Step 3: Update Wi-Fi Driver

  • Open Device Manager → Network adapters → Your Wi-Fi adapter.
  • Right-click → Update driver.
  • Or download the latest driver from HP: Official HP® Support


Step 4: Check Router

  • Ensure your router is broadcasting on 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz (some HP laptops struggle with mixed mode).
  • Disable MAC address filtering temporarily.


Step 5: Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters → Network Adapter → Run.
