The new laptop is a brand new HP 15-bw0xx notebook. Perhaps I should keep the card in case the installed one should fail. Right now it is working great

Unfortunately, your notebook is too new, and uses a different wifi card form factor called an M.2.

 

So, the BCM HMC card you have will not work in there.
