We've been struggling with this issue since we got this laptop, and it seems HP has no real solution, or isn't trying to find one.
You can read other forums reporting the same issue. Went to waste time with the support assistant hoping to be passed on to some real support, BUT when I enter the model number that listed in my HP "Support Assistant" it says the model number isn't valid and does not provide any other support. My warranty still has a couple of months on it and I want the issue fixed.

Hi @Tomg881,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP network card and Wi-Fi disappear after your computer wakes up, there are a few things you can try to resolve the issue.
- Update drivers: The first step is to check if there are any updates available for your network card and Wi-Fi drivers. Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your network card and Wi-Fi.
- Power management settings: Check your power management settings to make sure that your network card and Wi-Fi are not being disabled when your computer goes to sleep. Go to the Control Panel, then to Power Options, and click on Change plan settings. Click on Change advanced power settings, expand the Network Adapter section, and make sure that the settings are set to "Maximum Performance" or "Medium Power Saving" for both "On battery" and "Plugged in" modes.
- Disable Fast Startup: Fast Startup is a feature in Windows that can cause problems with hardware devices. To disable Fast Startup, go to the Control Panel, then to Power Options, and click on Choose what the power buttons do. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable and uncheck the box next to "Turn on fast startup (recommended)".
- Reset network settings: Sometimes, resetting your network settings can resolve the issue. Go to the Control Panel, then to Network and Sharing Center, and click on Change adapter settings. Right-click on your network card and select Disable. Wait a few seconds, then right-click again and select Enable.
- Check for hardware issues: If none of the above solutions work, there may be a hardware issue with your network card or Wi-Fi module.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,
Thanks for trying to help. It does have the lastest Realtek driver dated 1/31/2023, I was really hoping this would fix things.
I will have to say some of your info is either outdated or not pertinent to Windows 11. There is no more power management tab in the network card driver. Only my old Windows 10 desktop, updated to 11 has it. New computers with new Win 11 installs do not. Bringing it back would eliminate this problem but MS decided that Win 11 could handle most of the power needs. Also, Power Management in Control Panel has no separate Network Adapter setting anymore. I've deleted the card and tried shutting off Fast Startup (found these hints on another forum a while ago) and that did not work.
