My laptop only is able to do 2.4ghz connections for wifi. I use my phone hotspot a lot and for the nature of my work I am always on the go and rarely in the same place twice. Since upgrading to the Iphone 12 my hotspot doesn't even show up on my laptop. Guessing the iPhone is giving 5ghz wifi signal and my laptop isn't able to read the network. How do I go about upgrading my network card to read 5ghz or a dual band network card upgrade?

Hi:
if your notebook's current wifi card has two antenna wires connected to it, you should be able to upgrade to either of these two cards...
Dual band N: Max 300 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band.
Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn 2×2 Wi-Fi Adapter, Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter HP part # 730668-001
Dual band AC: Max 867 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band.
Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo HP part # 724935-001
You should be able to find the above 2 wifi cards on eBay. Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.
