HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g

HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer. We recently switched to Fiber Optic internet. The wireless was then working fine. Tech guy came to add a Mesh Extender. After he left, printer wasn't connecting to wireless. Mesh Extender was removed (and router moved to central location, very close to printer in fact).  Printer will NOT connect to wireless. Tried pushing WPS button on new router. Tried putting in passwords but don't know what password it wants. Nothing seems to work. Desperately need to be able to print!

Hi @Leva8

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is having trouble connecting to your new fiber optic internet after changes to your network setup, here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Confirm Wi-Fi Network

  • Ensure your printer is trying to connect to the correct Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, devices can remember old networks.

2. Reboot Your Devices

  • Restart your printer, router, and any devices you're using to connect to the printer. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

3. Use the HP Printer Control Panel

  1. Access Network Settings:
    • On the printer's control panel, go to Network > Wireless Settings.
  2. Restore Network Defaults:
    • Look for an option to Restore Network Defaults. This will reset the printer's network settings, allowing you to start fresh.

4. Reconnect to Wi-Fi

  1. Wireless Setup Wizard:
    • After resetting, go back to Network > Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer.
  2. Select Your Network:
    • Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the correct password when prompted. Make sure to use the Wi-Fi password (not the WPS pin), which is usually on a sticker on your router.

5. Check for Correct Password

  • Ensure you are using the correct Wi-Fi password. If you're unsure, you can usually find this in your router settings or on the router itself.

6. Disable MAC Address Filtering

  • If your router has MAC address filtering enabled, make sure to either disable it or add your printer's MAC address to the allowed list. You can find the printer’s MAC address in the printer's network settings.

7. Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date:
    • Use the HP Smart app or visit the HP Support website to check for updates.

8. Check Signal Strength

  • Ensure that the printer is within range of the router and that there are no obstructions that might interfere with the signal.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

thanks very much for your response. It definitely had some helpful information.  We did get everything working, EXCEPT... I can scan to my Mac laptop from the printer, but I cannot print from the Mac Laptop. My laptop says the printer is Offline and it can't find the printer. Someone suggested that I delete the printer driver and download a new one. I confess I don't know how to delete the printer driver. (My friend can print from his Mac laptop and I can print from the PC laptop.)
