Hello,
My laptop is not showing a wifi network that I know exists. It's showing numerous other networks, but the one that every other device is connected to in the house is not showing up. We've tried restarting the laptop, the router, the modem, and nothing.

Welcome to the HP User Community.
Make sure the router is broadcasting that SSID named network
Make sure the router firmware is updated
Check the status of the network(s) controlled by the router
If you make any changes, restart the router (warn users of the network you are doing this)
and / or
Use a Manual setup to enter the name of the SSID network and connect.

In addition to what @Dragon-Fur mentioned, if your PC is a bit older, not all HP laptops came with the ability to see 5ghz wifi bands - only 2.4ghz.
Is the "invisible" network 5ghz?

Good Point!
Yes - if the router "Dual Band" and is broadcasting on both frequencies, that's good.
If the device you want to connect only supports one frequency, you must connect to that band / SSID named network.
Example - Dual Band Network - Printer Connection (generally applies to your device, too)
