HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've given up trying to make the Intel Dual Band Network Adapter in my Spectre work reliably. I had been hoping that driver updates that have been coming out would fix the problems but realized today that the new updates are not being applied to my adapter which is AC 7265 Rev_50. The 18.33.9.3 driver that I'm running is the latest for my unit while other Rev's are up to 19.51.11.2.

What our my options for removing or turning off the 7265 and replacing it with something  that won't drop my network connection several times a day. I have used the HP troubleshooting application to reset the adapter and reconnect, but that still leaves me having to rename any files I have open.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I understand that you are having issues with the Intel Dual Band Network Adapter and you have already attempted several troubleshooting steps.

I'll try my best to help you out.

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the Wireless driver manually?

I also suggest you run the UEFI diagnostic on the wireless card

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and run the test on the wireless card

You can also follow the instructions in this Link: https://hp.care/2ikk02C

If you want to replace the card, you can contact our Phone Support for Service Options

Step 1. Open link: https://hp.care/2moMFSc
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number and phone number appear.

Keep me posted if you have further questions.

Thank you 🙂

I've been down all those paths before without any luck. The unit is out of warranty so if I send it in to be fixed I may as well spend the money on a new notebook. What I was thinking of was, can I replace this adapter with an alternative or possibly use a USB adapter. What are the pros and cons.

Since the Notebook is out of warranty, you can replace the Wlan card with any other card or even use the USB Adapter.

Keep me posted if you need further assistance

Thanks 🙂
