HP Envy Touchsmart 17-inch m7-j120dx Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
For my laptop, the wireless connection to my home router has been extremely flaky the last month or so. We prob have 20 other devices throughout three house that are connected to this router & none of them are having dropped connection issues.

The internal wireless card is the original internal wifi card that came with the laptop when purchased new about 4 years ago.

I've gone to Intel's website and have downloaded updated drivers for the wireless card and still no resolution of the issues. It may stay connected for an hour and start dropping or it may stay connected for only a few minutes and then begin to intermittently start dropping and reconnecting.

Does anyone out there know the specific HP part number for a replacement internal wireless card for this specific laptop, as I may need to pursue getting one of these? Thank you.

Yes, it will.

You are correct that with older model HP notebooks, there was a BIOS 'whitelist' which prevented any wifi card not listed in the service manual from working.

BIOS whitelists were removed starting with the model series that preceeded yours.

Hi:

It depends on your preference.

If you want a dual band AC card, go with this one...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0                  HP Part # 710661-001

If you want a dual band N card, go with this one...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260AN 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi + BT4.0     HP Part # 717381-001

Both cards are fully supported in W10.

Do your search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

They should be readily available on eBay or Amazon.

So will this particular card for certain work with my laptop? I've read posts about HP laptops sometimes having settings in the BIOS that only allow certain wifi cards to be used.
