Please help.

Noted that Ihave finished update both wirless and lan driver before do th NVIDIA update.

It is so frustrated what should I do to make this computer healthy.

Hi

The 802.11 ac, as I am sure you are aware, is for exceptionally high speeds when there are multiple aerials to create multiple channels.

So a router like the

ASUS RT-AC88U AC3100 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router with 8 Gigabit LAN Ports and Dual-WAN 3G/4G Support with 4 antenna gives Ultra-fast 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi router boosts speeds up to 3167 Mbps for low-latency online gaming, smooth 4K UHD video playback and extremely fast file-sharing.

Probably not a cost your ISP is willing to make for free.

Hi @TisMiiTip,

Good Day. Thank you for taking an interest in the HP community. I understand that the computer has Wi-Fi connectivity issues. I will be really glad to assist you here.

Fabulous description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did this happen after a windows or software update?
  • Did you check with a hardwired Ethernet cable to see if it goes online on a wired connection?
  • Do other devices connect at high speeds on the same network with this router?
  • Did you run a network speed test to determine the speed of your internet connection on a different device?

For a start please try these steps:

  • First, check if the computer connects using a hardwired Ethernet cable on a wired connection. 72 Mbps speed is quite good if it is the browsing speed of the computer. Please restart the computer and check again by trying the download again. It might have timed out. Check if the issue gets fixed.

If it does not get fixed then please perform these steps:

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand Network adapters>then select the network drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that says delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and wireless network drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2syreDe and follow the on-screen instructions through the hardwired ethernet cable connection.
  • Please select the country and type the product# of the computer. Then follow the on-screen instructions to update the network drivers.
  • Also, follow the prescribed steps from his guided troubleshooter: http://hp.care/2xFFqtJ  and that should fix things for you as long as there are no hardware issues with the computer.
  •
  • Please perform all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2sEZlcM
  • also to try and resolve the issue.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. As a last resort, you could backup your files and perform a system recovery to factory settings from here  http://hp.care/2ijzLar  to ensure that the issue is not software related.

Then use HP support assistant to update the drivers and other related software.

Please run all windows updates also.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂

Hi

72.2 Mbps is not slow.

Mine is

 Channel                : 1
    Receive rate (Mbps)    : 72
    Transmit rate (Mbps)   : 72

I achieve  45.3 Mbps  and 4.94.

My router could be the problem, the site I am visiting, local interference and there other possibilities.

So if you have the capability for a higher speed, but the system restricts it, then it is just unfortunate.

If you have Gigabit ethernet card (1000 Mbps) and your ISP sells you a 100 Mbps connection would you feel cheated?

You may have local problems and better speeds may be achieved, so what speed does your ISP provide/guarantee?

What capability has your router?

Hi CLINT_FLICK,

sorry for getting back to the post very late...It's been hectic weekend dealing with setting up new notebook and manage family life... 😉

Yes, I agree that 72Mbps is not that awful slow somehow with the WIFI 802.11 AC.

However, with it current spec, the speed should go beyond this number with the AC.

802.11n could go from 72-600 Mbps and 802.11ac could go from 433Mbps-1.3Gbps.

Anyway, I will back to check all my setup on both sites (Router vs WIFI card) as I could not do anything much with my Provider (even they earn from me)

The problem could be the Router (finger cross)

If I could get more inf, will definitely update. Thank you.

Hi David,

Thanks for complimentary and sorry for getting back to the post very late...It's been hectic weekend dealing with setting up new notebook and manage family life... 😉

Here my answer to your question

  • Did this happen after a windows or software update?

My Anwser: This is a brand new notebook and after I install windows 10 Home 64bits, I installed the HPAssistance to do all HP update.

  • Did you check with a hardwired Ethernet cable to see if it goes online on a wired connection?

My Anwser: I do the update via the WiFi only, I did not yet attach the EtherNet cable.  ( Don't like to be chained 😛 )

  • Do other devices connect at high speeds on the same network with this router?

My Anwser: Yes, as usaul in everyday life of my homegroup.

  • Did you run a network speed test to determine the speed of your internet connection on a different device?

My Anwser: Other devices do not have issue.

"First, check if the computer connects using a hardwired Ethernet cable on a wired connection. 72 Mbps speed is quite good if it is the browsing speed of the computer. Please restart the computer and check again by trying the download again. It might have timed out. Check if the issue gets fixed."

My Anwser: Yes, I did try download the Wireless and NVIDIA driver from the link provided on the HP site. The speed is not as bad as when let the HP Assistance does the update even without restarting my computer. Therefore, I think the slow update by HP Assistance s/w might not cause by the slow wifi connection speed (72.2 Mbps). It might be the HP server site issue.

Therefore, I have not yet try the second suggestion to uninstall the driver.

Also, the Bios and Chipset update was done as the very first thing after I finish installing Windows 10 and I decided to leave it as is.

Somehow, after a few researches I think there might be 2 separated issues here, that I will continue to verify and will keep you all posted (for the benefit of others as well)

1) The slow push speed from HP server site that make me suffer from installing the update for the Wireless and NVIDIA drivers.

2) The setup between my router and the 802.11AC card in my notebook.

Thanks for your promptly reply.

Well.. the bottleneck is on the router itself...LOL...beside of spending on the new notebook and s/w.

I need a new router  as well...

Poor me...Thanks everyone for the help.
