Hello,
I've been experiencing WiFi troubles with my HP laptop since I purchased it. Within the first year, I had connectivity issues, and after claiming the warranty, I received a new WiFi card. However, after a couple of hours of usage, the WiFi disconnected, the WiFi icon went missing, and Device Manager showed an error 45 for the RTL8821CE, indicating the device was unplugged. After a few days, it started working again.
After 6 to 8 months, the issue has resurfaced. I contacted HP support and went through extensive troubleshooting, including a Windows reset, driver reinstallation, and BIOS reset. None of these steps helped to resolve the issue. Finally, HP support suggested I order a new WiFi card from them and have it installed on a chargeable basis.
Why should I spend money on a new WiFi card if the one they provided under warranty doesn't work? This feels like an unreliable hardware or driver issue. Can anyone help me understand or provide a solution to this persistent problem?
Thank you!
PS: It works when I reboot computer next day for couple of minutes again goes disconnected!

Hi:
The only suggestion I can offer (if and when you get the RTL8821CE Wi-Fi card to show up again in the device manager), would be to update the Wi-Fi driver to the latest version HP has for that model Wi-Fi adapter:
2024.10.228.9

Thanks for the solution, but I did something along with that worked idk how 🙂 because only driver didn't help.
Solution:
- With the system powered on, removed the Wi-Fi card.
- Uninstalled old device drivers through Device Manager.
- Re-plugged the antenna and Wi-Fi card, then secured everything.
- The device appeared in Device Manager but wasn't ready. Installed the latest driver and rebooted.
Result:
- Wi-Fi worked for a whole day without disconnecting.
- When it disconnected later, a reboot fixed the issue again, and it continues to work.
