We've been using HP Probooks and Elitebooks since Generation 6 (mostly with AMD CPUs) and the models with Intel wifi chipsets have always performed brilliantly. Intel also do a great job of providing driver updates. Recently however HP have moved to using Realtek chipsets on the AMD models and the performance has been awful with regular drops on all systems and unpredictable speeds. To make things worse the only drivers available are ancient. It's got to the point where I am considering buying Intel wifi cards to swap out all the Realtek units.

Hi:
Actually, Realtek does do a fairly good job updating the drivers (not that it does much good).
The cards are simply not very good.
It is HP that does a pretty bad job updating the drivers to the latest version on the individual PC model's support pages.
The older the model, normally the older the drivers are.
Here is the link to the latest Wi-Fi drivers HP currently has for W10/W11 for the Realtek cards:

If you decide to purchase Intel Wi-Fi 6 cards for the notebooks with AMD platforms, I recommend you only purchase this model/HP part number.
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro HP part #L35282-005
HP installed one of these in my Envy x360 15-ee047nr notebook with an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor.

Thankyou, that is an incredibly useful reply. That driver is newer than the one listed for the Probook 445 G8 and Elitebook 845 G9 so I'll give that a try, not holding out much hope as like you say it is probably hardware. All of our systems have the 3 year extended warranty, you mention HP replaced yours, was that under warranty? If so did it take much convincing to get them to do that?

You're very welcome.
My notebook originally came with that model card from HP.
They did not replace a Realtek card with an Intel one.
You will have to contact HP support if you want to try and get the Realtek cards replaced under warranty.
I would not get your hopes up that they would.
I was just pointing out that I know for a fact that the Intel card HP installed at the factory worked fine in my AMD notebook so it should work equally as well in a Probook AMD notebook.
I am leery about recommending this card, because other forum members have tried it and in some models it worked but in most, it didn't, but if you want to give it a try...

Ah ok yes we have quite a few Gen 7 probooks and elitebooks all with the AX200 and none have had any issues. I doubt they would change it out for another brand through support. Hopefully someone from HP sees the issues people have with the Realtek chipsets and they go back to using Intel.
