My new HP laptop also uses the Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8723DE 802.11b/g/n PCIe Adapter. And I must say it's quite a letdown that also in the Ubuntu distributions the drivers are not installed by default. I'll probably switch to Dell for my next laptop as they provide models that actually work on linux out of the box..

Same problem with the same Realtek RTL8273DE, the solution was to replace the WiFi card for another in my case an Intel Dual Band Wireless AC3160. I connected the antenna to the 2nd socket and it solve the issue. 

 

When I was using the Realtek RTL8273DE, I even try on old card drives 2023.54.331.2017 Rev.A, which offered the option Antenna diversity, but not lock so at the  end replaced the card.
