I do not see where you mentioned your printer model or operating system/version.

If you did, I may have missed it, or your post failed to include that information.

 

Whether, how, and if your printer can connect to your computer and / or your network depends on the printer model (and what it supports), your network (if router controlled), and -- to some extent -- the tools and apps you have available in your Operating System to help with the connection process.

 

If your printer only supports a USB connection, and if you are running a supported version of Windows for that printer, consider installing the full driver printer software .

There are documents and videos designed to help with the process.

 

Your network, if that is what you want to use, must be stable and ready to accept a connection (Wireless or Ethernet as available and supported by the printer).

 

Your printer must support the type of connection -- some printers support wireless but only on the 2.4GHz frequency.
