My WiFi connection says no internet, secured. When I look up under diagnose network problems it says there is a problem with the DNS cache. Every other device connects just fine to the router.  It happened all of a sudden and I have tried just about every fix I can find to no avail.  Please help.  Thank you.

@Kohnnyb, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Flush the DNS Cache

This clears corrupted DNS entries.

Press Win + X > Click Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin)

Run these commands one at a time:

  • ipconfig /flushdns
  • ipconfig /release
  • ipconfig /renew
  • netsh int ip reset
  • netsh winsock reset

Restart your laptop.

Forget and Reconnect to Wi-Fi

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage Known Networks

Click on your network > Forget

Reconnect by entering the password again

Manually Set a Public DNS

Your DNS server might be down or misconfigured.

Go to:
Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings

Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties

Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Click Properties

Choose:

Use the following DNS server addresses:

Preferred: 8.8.8.8

Alternate: 8.8.4.4
(These are Google's public DNS servers)

Click OK, then restart the connection

Disable Power Saving on Wi-Fi Adapter

Windows may be powering off your adapter to save battery.

Press Win + X > Device Manager

Expand Network Adapters

Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties > Power Management

Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Reset Network Settings

This will reinstall all your network drivers.

Go to: Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network Reset

Click Reset now

Reboot when prompted

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
