Hello! I have a Victus 16-d0515la (62C37LA) and I just changed my internet provider. We switched from a Huawei router to an Eero, but despite my brother's computer getting 700 Mbps download speeds, mine only reaches up to 350 Mbps and experiences intermittent service.
We have a 960 Mbps contract, and I don't understand why my laptop isn't delivering the expected speed, especially since I didn't have any issues with speed limitation or intermittent Wi-Fi before.
I look forward to any possible solution and appreciate any help in advance.
Best regards.

Hi @Joaco00,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your Victus by HP 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop is not achieving the expected Wi-Fi speeds with your new Eero router, even though other devices on the same network are working fine. This issue could be due to several factors, including Wi-Fi settings, interference, or driver issues.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
1. Update Wi-Fi Drivers
- Ensure your Wi-Fi drivers are up to date. Manufacturers often release updates that improve performance and compatibility.
- To update your drivers:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Network adapters section.
- Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
2. Check Wi-Fi Band
- Make sure your laptop is connected to the 5 GHz band rather than the 2.4 GHz band, as the 5 GHz band provides faster speeds but has a shorter range.
- To check this, go to your network settings and see which SSID (network name) you are connected to. If your Eero has separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, ensure you are connected to the 5 GHz one.
3. Adjust Eero Router Settings
- Log in to your Eero router settings and check if there are any configurations that could be limiting your speed. Ensure QoS (Quality of Service) settings are not prioritizing other devices over your laptop.
- Ensure there are no bandwidth limits or parental controls affecting your laptop's performance.
4. Position and Distance
- Consider the position of your Eero router and your laptop. Obstructions such as walls, metal objects, or electronic devices can interfere with the signal. Try moving closer to the router to see if that improves your speed.
- Additionally, check if your laptop performs better when closer to the router or if other devices nearby could be causing interference.
5. Network Troubleshooter
- Run the built-in Windows network troubleshooter to identify and fix common network problems.
- To do this:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to Network & Internet > Status.
- Click Network troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.
6. Change Wi-Fi Channel
- Sometimes, interference from neighboring networks can cause issues. Changing the Wi-Fi channel on the 5 GHz band to a less congested one can help.
- This setting can be changed in the Eero router's admin panel or app.
7. Disable Power Saving for Wi-Fi Adapter
- Windows sometimes reduces power to the Wi-Fi adapter to save battery, which can affect performance.
- To disable this:
- Go to Device Manager > Network adapters.
- Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties.
- Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
8. Test on a Different Network
- If possible, test your laptop on a different Wi-Fi network (like a friend's or a public hotspot) to see if the problem persists. This can help determine if the issue is with your laptop or the Eero router configuration.
