Apologies Im a bit of a novice at this - The model is A - COMPAQ Presario CQ71 - 32 Bit - Running windows vista
I am unable to use wifi at all as its saying there is something wrong with the network controller in the device manager

I think this is the hardware information (LDS - found in properties) on the network controller

Unfortunately, there is no W10 driver for the atheros AR5007 wifi card your notebook has.
The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the W7 driver and see if that works.
This package contains the drivers for the supported Atheros Wireless LAN Adapters in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

Try manually installing the driver if the auto install method doesn't work.
If that driver doesn't work, you will have to either use an external usb wireless network adapter that works with W10, or revert to a supported operating system (Vista/W7).
