HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cd05la
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, and thanks in advance for any help. I have a Pavilion 15, everything worked fine until I upgraded my internet connection with my provider, it was 50 MB download, now it's 100 MB. After the upgrade I realized my wifi card was not capable of going past a 52 download connection. The HP support guys tried everything (new drivers, disabling firewall, etc), and as a last resort told me we should reset my laptop. I will just go on that path if I was certain that it'll solve the problem. I will really appreciate any comments if anyone have had a¿the same issue or knows about a solution.

I already have an USB WiFi adapter that works great and gives me the connection my network is capable of providing, but this laptop only have 2 USB ports so I rather get the internal wifi working if possible.

Thanks again for any help

Hi:

The maximum throughput of that model wifi adapter is 72 MBPS, so 50 MBPS is not all that bad.

Thanks for the reply, I will keep using the USB WiFI adapter and get an USB expander hub so I can go along with just one available USB port.  The only thing that bothers me right now is that I really don't remember reading anywhere that the wifi card that my laptop came with was limited to 70MB speed, I have used 2.4Ghz cards that did not have that problem. Thanks againg  your help, you got me out of spending 2 hours on a OS reset for nothing.

You're very welcome.

If you are good at taking things apart and putting them back together again, you can replace the card in there now with this 1 x 1 AC card and probably get up to the 100 MBPS you are paying for.

Here is the link to the service manual.  The wifi card R & R procedures can be found in chapter 5.

The only place I can seem to find that model wifi card is on eBay.
