Hi @8L7Y4PA,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for sharing your experience. Since the issue appears to be intermittent, I would recommend trying the following steps first:

Perform a complete power reset by shutting down the notebook, disconnecting the AC adapter, and holding the power button for about 15 seconds before restarting.

Check Device Manager > Bluetooth when the issue occurs and confirm whether the MediaTek Bluetooth Adapter shows Code 45 or disappears completely.

If it shows Code 45, let us know whether a power reset brings it back without reinstalling the driver.

Also check whether the Bluetooth adapter returns after a normal restart or only after a complete power reset.

If the issue continues even after the BIOS, chipset, and Bluetooth drivers have been updated, please provide your exact product number and current BIOS version. This will help us check the appropriate configuration and determine the next troubleshooting step.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kens

Error is code 43 in device manager, not 45. After some time, it disappears completely.

A normal restart doesn't fix anything, A power reset brings the device back online, but only for the bluetooth to fail again.

Product ID : 8L7Y4PA#ACJ

BIOS : Insyde F.32

Hi @8L7Y4PA,

Thank you for clarifying the details.

Since the Bluetooth adapter is showing Code 45 and then disappearing completely, and a normal restart does not recover it while a complete power reset does, this gives us a more specific direction.

Since you have already confirmed that the BIOS is F.32 and the power reset only provides a temporary recovery, please try the following:

When Bluetooth fails again, check Device Manager > Bluetooth and confirm whether the MediaTek adapter initially shows Code 45 before disappearing.

Also check Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers for any device showing a yellow warning icon at the same time.

If possible, note whether the Bluetooth adapter returns immediately after the power reset without reinstalling the driver.

Please also confirm whether the issue occurs only after Windows has been running for some time or whether it can happen immediately after a cold boot.

Based on your results so far, repeatedly reinstalling the Bluetooth driver is unlikely to be a permanent solution. The fact that a complete power reset restores the adapter while a normal restart does not is useful information for determining whether the Bluetooth interface is entering a state from which it cannot recover normally.

Please share the above results, and we'll continue from there.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi

Hi @Kuroi_Kenshi

Thankyou for the response.

Answering your questions,
Yes the MediaTek adapter initially shows Code 43 before disappearing again.
Yes, one of the  Universal Serial Bus controllers also shows a yellow icon.

Yes, the adapter comes online immediately after a power reset without reinstalling the drivers, and acts completely normal before failing again.

I have noticed that the issue occurs mostly after Windows has been running for some time. It is very unlikely to occur immediately after a cold boot, although I cannot say this with certainty. I have observed multiple times that, after shutting down the system and turning it on again the next day or a few days later, the Bluetooth adapter/driver is already working without needing to reinstall the driver.

Hi @desultorybiped,

Thank you for providing those additional details. This information is very helpful.

Since the MediaTek Bluetooth adapter initially shows Code 43, then disappears completely, while a USB controller also shows a warning at the same time, the issue appears to be occurring at the device/USB interface level rather than simply being a missing Bluetooth driver.

The fact that:

  • A normal restart does not recover the Bluetooth adapter.
  • A complete power reset immediately brings it back.
  • No driver reinstallation is required after the power reset.
  • The issue generally occurs after the notebook has been running for some time.

is particularly useful.

When the issue occurs again, could you please provide the error details for the USB controller showing the yellow warning icon?

In Device Manager:

  1. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  2. Right-click the device with the yellow warning icon.
  3. Select Properties > General.
  4. Please share the device status/error code shown there.
  5. Also open Properties > Details > Hardware IDs and share the hardware IDs.

Please provide only the hardware IDs and error information.

This will help determine whether the USB controller and the MediaTek Bluetooth interface are failing together when the problem occurs.

Since the power reset temporarily restores the adapter without reinstalling the driver, I would not recommend repeatedly reinstalling the Bluetooth driver at this point.

Once we have the USB controller error details, we can determine the appropriate next step.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
