According to the diagnostics the Adapter has a hardware problem, it won't start (that's the quote from the diagnostic run). Tried to run software updates via ethernet cable, but is unable to install, due to hardware failure. I've run all the easy checks: airplane on/off, diagnostics on system, etc., all say te same thing.
What's the next step?
Thanks,

The adapter may have truly failed. I would probably start by removing ethernet cord. next go to Device Manager and right click the adapter ,Uninstall it. Restart the laptop and see if it refreshes the driver with any success.
