So I decided to upgrade my wireless network adapter to wifi-6 technology. Got Intel adapter and installed successfully. First boot it worked great. Drivers installed themselves and it worked awesome. My download speed was like 500, all was good in the world.
I reboot the computer and the old Realtek Family Controller driver reinstalled itself. And it can not find and wireless networks.
I reset network, uninstalled realtek drivers and reinstalled my new intel drivers, reboot it and still nothing. I reset network again, nothing. After 5 reboots it worked. Wooo. Not so fast. This was a month ago.
Now I have to reboot the thing 5 times before I the network adapter works. I have to do this twice a day. So I am spending more time rebooting my notebook than I am using it. HELP ME!! I am going insane. My Download speed is so awesome I want this adapter to work. But Realtek does not, cause they keep reinstalling itself and uninstalling my new drivers. Why???
I have done everything in the forums I have seen,. So no need to tell me to check the box to unistall realtek drivers. Done it. I can not delete the file in the File Explorer though, says it is being used - try again. So IDK Help

Hi
I expect I will suggest what you have already tried,.....
The Intel part of it, Adapter and Drivers are clear and clean?
The Realtek drivers are being downloaded from where? HP / Realtek / Elsewhere?
""I can not delete the file in the File Explorer though, says it is being used - try again.""
If you can see see it you can delete it. Worst case scenario is Linux Live and delete it that way.
May be ComManD.exe as an Admin in safe mode with NO Network capabilities will delete it (cuz it wont be in use).
If you can give some answers please then I may have more daft ideas.

Well you were right about deleting the driver. It's a dual boot so went into my ooenSuse and at first Linux saw the windows partition corrupted and wouldn't let me delete files. I fixed it and deleted the Realtek drivers. I then rebooted and it found wifi. I shut down and rebooted 5 times and every time it worked. I thought I fixed it!!
Nope.. of course the next morning I bott it it and no networks found. . My new wifi adaptor not in device manager . Back to square one.

I still need help. this is ridiculous. To answer some of your questions. The Realtek drivers were factory. The Intel drivers I got from Intel's site.
I am just confused at this point. I nuked the Realtek side of it. But now it seems to just be losing the new adapter after it's shut down for a while. Help.

Hi
Since you also favour OpenSuse...................
Make sure the W10 does not have Fast Start Up enabled.
Now daft ideas, since you didn't say where the download is coming from then this bit is a long shot...

Are you asking where the Realtek drivers come from originally? They are factory, and once I delete them they do stay in drivers folder. But now I have wiped them from the Linux parition and they seem to be gone. However, it is not stopping the system from thing the controller is still in the slot, even without the drivers it seems.
I did go into bios and Fast Boot was disabled already. But I did disable secure boot and enable legacy boot?? We shall see. Going to go into PowerShell now and explore Update Config etc.
Thanks so much for your help. This is driving me bonkers.

Still no joy. So frustrated. Brand new Laptop and have to spend first 10 minutes of everyday rebooting the thing 5 +time to get wifi. The Realtek Device just keeps coming back like that wonderful virus we wont name (not talking about a computer virus ;() So whats next? Throw the thing out the window?
The factory Realtek drivers do NOT reinstall themself, they are gone, but the system still thins the device is there. Have done everything. What is this about Dirty Bit set? Not familiar with it?

Hi
The Fast Start Up puts the the partition into "suspend" mode, and if you are lucky it is read only.
So mounting in OpenSuSE is pointless until the 'dirty bit' is reset.
Overly long explanation
