Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I am installing windows 7 on an HPG56 laptop; it previously had Linux Mint on it and its wifi card worked fine.  Now when I try to see  the wifi card, I cannot.  When I use device manager I see in Network Adapters that a Realtek driver is installed for the ethernet:

Realtek RTL8102E/RTL8103E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20).

How can I get the WIFI driver for the Laptop?

You're very welcome.

I love solving driver puzzles:

OK, the hardware ID tells us that your notebook has the Realtek RTL8191SE Wi-Fi adapter.

This is the W7 Wi-Fi driver you need for that model Wi-Fi adapter:

Realtek RTL8191SE 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows

I don't believe that any HP G56 notebook came with a Realtek RTL8188EE Wi-Fi adapter, because that model Wi-Fi adapter was not released until a few years later.

The G56 notebook, if it came with a Realtek Wi-Fi adapter, came with the Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi adapter, for which I have posted the link to the W7 driver for it, below:

Thank you for your prompt reply.  I tried this sp file some time ago and this time did it again, but it does not solve my problem. Under Network Adapters is still only the ethernet realtek to be seen.

You're very welcome.

When a Wi-Fi adapter needs a driver, there will be a device listed in the device manager labeled as a Network Controller.

Find the Network Controller device and post the hardware ID for it so I can figure out what driver it needs.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device:

How to Find Drivers for Unknown Devices in the Device Manager (howtogeek.com)

Hello Again,

well that seems to be the problem, the network controller does not have a driver installed.  I am trying to find one that works; do you have any suggestions about network controller drivers?

HP Recommended

If you follow the steps and post the hardware ID for the Network controller, I will give you the driver you need for it.

There could be half a dozen different model Wi-Fi cards HP could have installed in your notebook, so I have no idea which one it is without knowing that info.

The hardware ID for the Wi-Fi adapter will look something like this:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2723&SUBSYS_008C8086&REV_1A
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2723&SUBSYS_008C8086
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2723&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2723&CC_0280

Here are all the ids listed in the Network Controller Properties:

PC/VEN_10EC&DEV_8171&SUBSYS_1467103C&REV_10

PC/VEN_10EC&DEV_8171&SUBSYS_1467103C

PC/VEN_10EC&DEV_8171&CC_028000

PC/VEN_10EC&DEV_8171&CC_0280

I really do hope this is the info you and thank you in advance for the time you are spending on my behalf,

Regards
