HP 17 Laptop PC 17-c2000 (4V793AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop just started losing connection to the internet through wireless networks. It connects to the network, but doesn't recognize that there is internet access through the network. Other devices on the network can see the internet, so it's not the router.

Spent nearly 2 hours on chat with HP support last night, replaced drivers, updated BIOS, updated everything. Worked fine last night, this morning it didn't work.

I'm ready to replace the Realtek card, even though the computer is still under warranty.

Suggestions?

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to install this driver if it isn't the one you already installed:

 6001.10.354.0   04/17/2023

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp148001-148500/sp148266.exe

If you want to replace the card, you can see if this one will work:

Intel AX210 Wi-Fi 6E 2x2 AX + Bluetooth 5.2 M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part # M27269-005

The service manual HP has on the support page is for the older models so there is a different model Intel card listed and since it is a CNVI card, those usually only work in a PC that originally came with one.

Thanks, Paul!

Spent another hour on a chat with HP yesterday, they still don't accept it's a hardware issue. The wanted me to do a clean "cloud" install of Windows, erasing everything already on the PC. Not sure I want to do that!

You're very welcome.

I doubt that factory resetting the PC will solve anything if the driver I posted for you didn't make a difference.

This forum has many posts from members that have issues with the Realtek 8852 Wi-Fi 6 cards.

The problem is that if you were to get HP to replace the card, they are only going to install the same one it came with.

It seems that those Realtek cards have had issues for years since HP began using them...the RTL8821CE, RTL8822CE, RTL8852AE...they all have issues for most folks.

Replacing one of those M.2 form factor Wi-Fi cards requires a delicate hand because the terminals on the Wi-Fi card are apt to break off inside the tiny antenna wire connectors if you are not careful.

This video shows the recommended procedure for removing and replacing the Wi-Fi card in your notebook's model series.

That section starts at minute 3:09.
