I've downloaded and installed the latest Realtek Wireless driver for this model. The driver shows in the list of Network Connections, but I see "Not Connected" next to it. I ask it to Connect, but a list of available network does not show. Also, the network icon does not show up in the taskbar. I've already tried numerous ideas (Registry, Local Group Policy Editor) but cannot get the wireless adapter to work properly.

So next you need to create a profile to connect your WiFi.
Go into Control Panel and Networks and try and create a connection, disconnect the ethernet while doing that.
You can delete the long post I have got useful info, thankyou.

Hi
I think this little script will help to determine some details...
This short script is to gather information on some parts of your system
OS, Networking Hardware and Software etc.
Copy and paste the section between the ~~~~ lines, and paste into NotePad.
Save as PN.bat somewhere easily accessible. Double click to Run
Then run as Administrator to create the output files if desired.
The output files can be edited to remove SENSITIVE details before posting.
Delete the output files immediately after use.

So next you need to create a profile to connect your WiFi.
Go into Control Panel and Networks and try and create a connection, disconnect the ethernet while doing that.
You can delete the long post I have got useful info, thankyou.

Ok, I disconnected my ethernet cable and I went to "Network and Sharing Center". I see four options: "Set up a new connection or network", "Connect to a network", "Choose a homegroup and sharing options" and "Troubleshooting problems".
I selected "Manually connect to a wireless network". I filled the next screen with all the details of my wireless network (SSID, Security Type, Encryption). The wireless network connection became available and connected to my router, so yay!! success !!
However, the question still remains: why can't the network driver (or windows, or whomever) present me with a list of available networks?

Hi
Have you asked politely?
OR
Have you tried not so politely?
netsh wlan show profiles @ Replace the %wkey% with a name from the above list. netsh wlan show profile name=%wkey% key=clear
Maybe the SSID is set not to Broadcast, then there is no list.
