Hey there! @TS651, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!

I understand you would like to upgrade wireless card on your PC to a dual band.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

As you mentioned you would like to upgrade wireless card on your PC to a dual band.

I have checked the records of your laptop and you don't have an option of upgrading the wireless card to a dual band.

You cannot upgrade the wireless card on your PC to a dual band. Because your PC was shipped with a single antenna. For a dual-band wireless card, you would need two wireless antennas to work.

Also, you would need a dual-band router to get the full speed.

The only supported wireless cards on your laptop are:

 WLAN module
 Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11AC 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter (non-vPro) 901229-855
 Realtek RTL8723DE 802.11 bgn 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter 927230-855
 Realtek RTL 8188EE 802.11 bgn 1x1 WiFi Adapter 927235-855
 Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter 863934-855

Refer product specifications page of your laptop to know more information.

Also, Refer the laptop user guide to know more information.

Note: Refer page 23 for more information.

You can purchase the part from HP parts store using this link.

However, as an alternate option, you can purchase a wireless dual band USB adapter for your laptop.

I found few best Wi-Fi USB Adapters refer this link for more information.

@TS651, Thanks for your quick response and time.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

I have checked the specification of your laptop and since your laptop was shipped with a single antenna. For a dual-band wireless card, you would need two wireless antennas to work.

Please find the dual-band wireless card listed below.

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11AC 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter (non-vPro) 901229-855

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter 863934-855

However, both the wireless card will not function on your PC as I mentioned earlier.

But as an alternate option, you can purchase a wireless dual band USB adapter for your laptop.

I found few best Wi-Fi USB Adapters refer this link for more information.

Hope this answers your query!

Take Care! 🙂
