At this moment, I have an Ethernet network card of max. 100mb in my HP Pavilion 1703. Can I replace it with another card at a faster rate?

@Nico1958

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand you want to replace your Ethernet card,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

What is the product number of your computer? The one you've mentioned is for your monitor!

(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

While you respond to that, I must let you know that most, infact all Ethernet cards are integrated to your motherboard and therefore cannot be replaced individually, you may have to replace the entire motherboard to complete this task and hence, it could get rather expensive.

I suggest you go for an external USB adapter instead as it would be portable and cheaper.

And I hope that information, helps!

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Hi @Nico1958, I am the Mr.Robot. It looks like you were interacting with @Riddle_Decipher, but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

Thanks for sharing the product details.

As you mentioned you need a replacement part number for the ethernet card.

Ethernet cards on laptops would be embedded to the system board and you have to replace the whole system board in order to upgrade the ethernet card.

However, if you are looking to upgrade the wireless cards on your PC. Please find the part number listed below.

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter for HP Pavilion 17 and 15 Notebook PC

Part number- 784638-005

You can purchase the part from HP parts store using this link.

Also, refer the laptop user guide for more information using this link.

Note: Refer page 22 for more information.
