HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop (15-ec2021nr)

HP Pavilion Gaming laptop (15-ec2021nr)

AMD Ryzen 5600h/Nvidia GTX 1650

16GB RAM 8GBx2 (3200mhz)

144hz 15.6 screen

I am wanting to replace the wifi card within the laptop, but am having trouble selecting something appropriate. The laptop currently has a Realtek 8852AE WiFi card in it. I am extremely disappointed with this cards performance and while it does work, it has the worst signal strength of any device I own. My second laptop which was far cheaper than this has an Intel AX201 and it will have full signal strength in places this can pull maybe 1-2 bars. I see it's a known issue with Realtek cards, so I'd like to just replace it. I'm comfortable opening the machine (I've replaced RAM+NVME in this) and installed clean copy of Windows.

So, given that it has a Ryzen & The realtek 8852AE.. I see that other versions of the ec-2021nr could be had with Intels AX-200...or the 9260? Non cnvi, I assume as this is not an Intel chipset.

I haven't opened my machine since the ram swap, but iirc, it does have two antennas and I'm quite sure the wifi card is in m.2 2230 form factor. Just having trouble selecting something that will work. I assume, the correct way, is to select it based on the only other available intel card this machine was offered with? For whatever reason, it seems like in order to get an intel card you had to have an intel CPU.

Could someone shed some light on this for me?

Hi:

The problem is that the service manual linked to your notebook's support page is for the older models.

HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ec2000 Manuals | HP® Customer Support

I'm going to take an educated guess that you need this wifi card description/part number:

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part # L35282-005.

You can find this card on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

The above card is what came from the factory in my HP 15-ee047nr notebook with the AMD Ryzen 5 4500 U processor.
