HP ENVY Notebook - 13-d008na (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All,

I'm having problems with Bluetooth being inaccessible on my HP ENVY Notebook 13-d008na, running Windows 10 (64-bit).

The Bluetooth widget has disappeared and Bluetooth can't be switched on from within the 'Bluetooth and other devices' menu. Previously I've connected Bluetooth devices to my laptop, so this is a recent issue.

I've tried various assistants suggested by HP. HP Support Assistant doesn't find any drivers which need updates and HP Network Check doesn't flag any issues.

I've checked in Device Manager > Network Adapters and can't see a Bluetooth driver, so I'm guessing this could be the cause (unsure how it would've been uninstalled).

I've checked drivers advised for my device on the HP support website and installed any which have Bluetooth in the name (the automatic scan and recommendation feature doesn't seem to be working for me). The drivers downloaded haven't fixed the issue:

  • Broadcom Bluetooth Driver (v12.0.1.720)
  • Realtek RTL8xxx Series Bluetooth Driver for Microsoft Windows 10 (DCHU) (v1.0.0.46)

I also have Intel Driver Support Assistant (DSA) installed which is flagging that an update is needed for the Intel® Wireless Bluetooth® for Windows® 10 and Windows 11 package, to v20.100.10.6. The install wizard completes but on rebooting my laptop the issue isn't resolved (driver isn't showing in the Device Manager and DSA is still flagging an action to install). I've attempted several reboots, both manual and wizard assisted driver installations, and reinstalling the Intel DSA without success.

Confusingly, if I search within Apps to uninstall, Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth (R) v22.110.2.1 is listed.

Does anyone please have any advice?

Thanks for your help

The specs of your machine is

          https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04951442

which says it has  802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2x2) and Bluetooth® 4.0 combo (Miracast compatible) (not Intel).

But from parts list, it can have one of the following 2

  • ASSY, WLAN RT 802.11BGN+BT4 1x1 SANJI
  • Wireless (WLAN) module (11AC 7265NV M.2 D0)  (No Bluetooth)

Now. what is IT CURRENTLY on your machine right now ? Please use Device manager to see what is it WIFI card right now ? Must be one of 3 above, please don't tell me it actually had a 4th one !.

Regards.

Hi Banhien,

Thanks for looking at my issue. I've attached a few screenshots of what I can see within Device Manager:

  • The network adapter drivers visible in default view. Hopefully this has the info you were after but please let me know if not.
  • When view > show hidden is selected then a few greyed out Bluetooth drivers appear.
  • If it's any use, there's a BRLINK Bluetooth device listed in USB controllers.

Thanks again,

Ciaran

If it helps with your query about what' running on my laptop, I've had a look in the HP ENVY Notebook PC (model numbers 13-d000 through 13-d099 and 13-d100 through 13-d199) Maintenance and Service Guide which lists the WLAN modules in the below photo. I've never made any mods to it.

Thanks

From your screen shot, your machine has Wireless (WLAN) module (11AC 7265NV M.2) that MATCHES with the parts list Wireless (WLAN) module (11AC 7265NV M.2 D0). And I in my reply before It does NOT have Bluetooh.

Therefore I do not believe your machine actually had Bluetooth.

If you wish to add BT, you can use different card on the list OR use USB adapter

There are many brands and models around, cheaper too
