So I have a wi-fi router that is consistently giving download speeds of 350Mbps when tested with my android phone in the same room. When I test my HP Pavillion on wifi I get 30Mbps. When I test my Hp Pavillion with an ethernet cable connected I get 23Mbps. When I test my old desktop PC with the same ethernet cable I am getting 95Mbs. Some months ago I recall testing the HP Pavillion and getting over 200Mbps with the ethernet cable connected. No hardware has been changed. Please help.

Welcome to HP Community
I have gone through your Post and would like to help
I suggest you disable your Antivirus and Firewall and check if that helps
Also follow all the instructions in this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03460887

I have tried disabling anti virus and firewall and it makes no difference. I have also followed your link and checked all recommendations. The problem is definately with the Laptop and not the router as I have my works laptop next to me and that is downloading at 200MBs no problems. I was not able to update the driver though. The card I have is a RealtekRTL8732DE 802.11 b/g/h PCIe. I was unable to find a suitable drive on the HP support page.

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...
HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Thank you Krazy toad for your continued support. I downloaded the HP Support software as advised. There was a BIOS upgrade and an upgrade to the Realtek Bluetooth Driver. I installed both of these. Windows is up to date. I ran the speedtest. This laptop 16Mbps download; my works laptop (which is 5 years older) 100Mbps. Both on WiFi, both in same room. I have had 200Mbps on this laptop but not for several weeks now.

Please perform a Reset and then run all the updates and let me know if that works

Thanks for keeping me posted
At this point as a last resort please perform the HP System Recovery.
This will literally bring back the Notebook to Day One settings out of box. This will confirm if it's a Hardware or Software issue

I followed the link and it is not clear to me what you are asking me to do. Several of the recovery options have been disabled by windows upgrade. I tried the option to create recovery media but it said that this could no loner be done because the partition had been removed?
