I would like to find a dual band wifi card (5Ghz) to replace my Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi M.2 Adapter please!

I read about this one: https://a.aliexpress.com/_v3Wz8l  but I can't find any information if my notebook has actually two antennas.built in.

Also, for my specific notebook model (gaming), is there any other wifi card whitelisted in the BIOS?

Hi:

That card should work fine if your notebook only has one wifi antenna connected the Broadcom M.2 card, but if it has two antennas, you can probably upgrade to a better card.

The problem is...all of the service manuals are missing from the support page, so I cannot offer you a better alternative.

You would have to open up the notebook and check to see if it has two antenna wires connected to the Broadcom card.

Most notebooks with that model Broadcom wifi card only have one antenna wire connected, but a few models have two, and yours may be one of them.

The missing manuals problem has been reported to HP.

Thank you Paul. I will check by myself.

You're very welcome.

If you discover that there are two antenna wires connected to the Broadcom card, let me know and I will suggest a better card than the RTL8821CE.

The service manuals are back...

HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook Maintenance and Service Guide

Chapter 3 of the manual shows the best card is the Intel 3165 AC, so if your notebook has two wifi antenna wires, go with that one.

Or you can experiment with this model...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 AC 2×2 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (nonvPro)  HP part # 901229-855

Thank you for your answer.

I opened my notebook and sadly, I have only one antenna wire... I guess I'll go for the RTL8821CE or an USB wifi.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.
