I was interested in Paul's reply to a guy he said 'You'd be better off buying a USB dual band AC wifi adapter'
would this work? Why do these wifi's just stop working, it must something to do with age of the PC?

I'm using a following nano USB adapter for 11 years old machine. And it works perfectly

You can buy a similar one cheaper elsewhere

My network drivers went missing also. No network. Still under warranty, so this idea won't work for me as the best option. HP sent me a link to "cloud restore" my laptop. The history is, network has gone missing more than once. First time, I did everything HP suggested and also a few youtube videos. I honestly don't remember what got my network back. It had to be the BIOs update and drivers downloads from HP.com. I did them all at the sane time using my cellphone with usb tether for internet (windows will create a network for that to work). Going to download for this cloud recovery I got from HP support. I'll try to post back.

I didn't do the download. After all these hours of troubleshooting, I decided to call it quits for the night (morning actually). I shut my laptop down by holding down the power button. Then I turned the computer back on. It fixed it. My network is here. I'm using it to type this. Tips for this fix can be sent to [content removed]
