I did update the firmware on the dock and the bios on the notebook to the latest version, but I don't think that did the Job. I tested an option on my 845 G7 paired with a HP USB-C dock G5, and it works----- for now(a BIG for now!! 😉 )! In computer manager open options for the Realtek eth adapter and look in the Advanced tab after "Idle Power Saving" and "Selective suspend" and turn them both to "Disabled". I disabled that option too "Energy-Efficient Ethernet", but I think that the first two should be enough. Let me know if it did something for ya..

We have eight HP ProBook 440 G8s with the HP Dock G5 and have the same problem with the Ethernet port on the HP Dock G5. If the laptops use WLAN or the Ethernet connection on the device themselves, there are no connection interruptions.
Does anyone have any other ideas on how to resolve the disconnection issue?

Im not 100% sure but I think with
- latest BIOS Update on the Probook 650 G8
AND
- latest Firmwareupdate on the USB-C G5 Dockingstation
AND
-the two Driversettings (disabled "Idle Power Saving" and "Selective suspend")
it works!
We tested only the combination Probook 650 G8 and USB-C G5 Dock.

Hello!
I'm in the same situation. Deployed 14 HP ProBook 650 G8's with HP USB-C G5 docks. 4 of them would drop connection at any time. I was, thankfully, able to resolve 3 of the issues via driver updates and a BIOS update on one, but this last one has me banging my head on my desk. I've done everything listed, in addition to changing ports and so on. Wish I had something of value to contribute, just hoping for a resolution.
**Event viewer has Netwtw10 and e1dexpress listed like crazy. That's where I'll be digging today...
