Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I dont even know if anyone on here can help me, but i ordered a type c usb to rj45 network cable because my laptop does not have an Ethernet port and I have to be wired to my modem to work from home. well i got it in today and i plugged it in because everything is supposed to download automatically. and it said that "such and such device is ready to use" but in the network settings it wont show a LAN or Ethernet connection available, and I have to have this working by tomorrow or i loose my job! help!!

@JennyBangs I suggest you check other devices with the USB ports and ensure it's working fine, if it works fine with other devices, you may want to check with an alternate USB to RJ45 converter, and if the USB port isn't working: click here to troubleshoot USB ports.
