Hi there.
Trust everyone is well.
Im experiencing a problem where the connection drops all the time on my HP 15s i3 11th gen using a USB C to Ethernet adapter. The laptop is about 4 months old and I haven’t had a single minute of trouble with it since purchasing it.
what happens is that when I plug the adapter into my USB C port with Ethernet cable attached, it connects for a brief moment and then I hear the noise of the adapter being plugged in and removed all the time. I’ve checked that all my drivers are up to date using both windows update and Hp support assistant. If it’s of any help, my laptop uses MediaTek parts for its network card but everything seems up to date. Possible that my usb drivers are out of date but how do I check that?
I checked the adapter and cable on another HP laptop and it works 100%.
any help would be appreciated!
thanks!

Hi @GTI_Sean,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
I see that you are facing an issue with connecting your Laptop with USB C to ethernet adapter.
Follow the below steps to fix the issue.
-Perform a power drain on your PC.
1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.
2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.
5) Power on the PC, make sure the USB C port is a high speed port and check if it works now.
-Update the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link.
Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.
