Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello

I changed my OS from windows10 to windows 7, and then downloaded and installed all the drivers under 'Network adapters' section (I haven't installed the drivers under other sections as I want yo establish my Ethernet connection first). The wireless connections have been established and wifi seems to be working, but there is no Ethernet connection. In fact, the ethernet icon is missing from the 'network connections' window even when the cable is connected and the LED is blinking.

In need of some help

Eagerly waiting for a reply

@Rick024 Welcome to HP Forums!

There's something you should know, you cannot connect both the wired and wireless connection at the same time, it's either wireless or wired that would work,

With that said, please disconnect or turn off the wireless and then, try connecting the wired network to check if that works.

If that doesn't work, check the port being used as it could be broken or it doesn’t work well, you cannot be connected to the router.

Unplug the cable from the port and plug it into another port to see whether the problem resolves.

After trying the tips above, if the problem persists, check if the Ethernet is disabled.

Follow the steps below:

1) Press Win+R (Windows key and R key) at the same time.  A Run dialog will appear.

2) Type devmgmt.msc in the run box and click on OK button. The Device Manager window will pop up.

3) In Device Manager, expand Network adapters category.

4)  Next to the Ethernet card device name, if you see a computer icon with an arrow on it, the Ethernet has been disabled.

Following screenshot is for your reference.

5) Then right-click on the device name. Click Enable from the pop-up menu.

Let me know how that pans out,
