I have recently moving house to a temporary accommodation where the wifi is supplied by the resort. I have managed to set up the printer on the new wifi and able to print from my iphone but not from my hp laptop. I am also unable to scan from the printer.

Hi @Chuck1511,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your issue seems to stem from the new Wi-Fi setup and device connectivity, especially since you're using resort-supplied Wi-Fi, which might have restrictions. Here are steps to resolve the issue.
Verify Printer Connectivity
- Check Printer's Wi-Fi Status:
- On the printer's control panel, print a Wireless Test Report or a Network Configuration Page.
- Ensure it shows "Connected" and lists the same network name as your devices.
- Ensure the Printer and Laptop Are on the Same Network:
- Resort Wi-Fi might have separate networks for guests or different bands (e.g., 2.4GHz and 5GHz). Make sure your printer and laptop are on the same one.
Update Printer Settings on Your Laptop
- Reinstall the Printer on Your Laptop:
- Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Remove the old instance of the HP ENVY 6020e printer.
- Add the printer again using Add a printer or scanner.
- Use HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart app from HP's website if not already installed.
- Open the app, log in, and add your printer. The app will help establish the connection and diagnose issues.
Enable Scanning
- Set Up Full Printer Features:
- During setup, ensure the full feature drivers are installed (available on the HP website for your printer model).
- Check Scanner Settings:
- Open the HP Smart app or Windows Fax and Scan to check scanner functionality.
- Ensure the scan function is configured to use the correct network printer.
Resort Wi-Fi Configuration
- Check for Network Restrictions:
- Resort networks may block devices from communicating with each other for security reasons (called client isolation).
- Contact the resort's IT support to confirm if this feature is enabled. If so, request to have your printer and laptop whitelisted or connected on a private network.

Alternative Connection Methods
Wi-Fi Direct:
- If network restrictions persist, you can use Wi-Fi Direct:
- Enable Wi-Fi Direct on your printer.
- Connect your laptop to the printer's Wi-Fi Direct network.
- Print and scan directly without using the resort's Wi-Fi.
USB Connection:
- Temporarily connect the printer to your laptop using a USB cable for printing and scanning.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
