Hi @GETTHISFIXED23

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry your laptop keeps dropping Wi-Fi—it’s incredibly disruptive, especially when you’ve already tried everything from driver reinstalls to using an external adapter. You’ve done a thorough job, and I appreciate the persistence.

Let’s walk through a deeper recovery path to help stabilize your connection.

Step-by-step actions to fix persistent Wi-Fi drops on Windows

1. Run the Network Reset tool

This clears all network profiles and reinstalls adapters cleanly.

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings.
  2. Scroll down and select Network Reset.
  3. Click Reset now and restart your laptop.

This rebuilds your network stack and removes any corrupted profiles.

2. Manually set DNS and IP configuration

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Hardware properties.
  2. Click Edit under IP assignment.
  3. Set to Manual, enable IPv4, and enter:
    • IP address: 192.168.1.150 (or any unused IP on your network)
    • Subnet prefix length: 24
    • Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (your router’s IP)
    • DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

This avoids DHCP delays and ensures stable routing.

3. Disable Wi-Fi scanning interruptions

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll to WLAN AutoConfig, right-click, and select Properties.
  3. Set Startup type to Automatic.
  4. Click Stop, wait 10 seconds, then click Start.

This refreshes the Wi-Fi service and may prevent periodic drops.

4. Check for interference and band settings

  • Open your router’s admin page (usually 192.168.1.1).
  • Set Wi-Fi to 5 GHz only or split bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz separately).
  • Rename each band with a unique SSID (e.g., HomeWiFi-5G and HomeWiFi-2G).
  • Connect your laptop to the 5 GHz band.

This avoids congestion and improves stability.

5. Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for wireless test

  1. Power off the laptop.
  2. Power it on and immediately press Esc, then F2.
  3. Select Component Tests > Wireless Module Test.
  4. Run the test and note any error codes.

This checks for hardware-level faults in the wireless card.

Let me know how the system responds after these steps. If the issue persists, we can test with a static IP or alternate router channel. You’ve done everything right by staying persistent—I’ll be here to guide you further if needed.
