HP Envy x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-fc0000 (8Z8M0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello. My laptop will not connect to WIFI. The WIFI button is turned off and when it finally does let me toggle it on, it just turns it back off.  I have tried downloading windows 11 updates, restarting computer, downloading and updating drivers, I've tried everything I can think of. The computer is still covered under warranty, as I just bought it this past fall from Best Buy. When I called into HP for assistance today, the guy told me it was still under warranty, and it was missing a driver, but my warranty didn't cover it. I would have to pay to have it completed, and an additional amount monthly for subscription in order to get the help.

This is completely crazy, and it's crazy that my warranty doesn't cover it. Can anyone help with this? Is there some kind of virus or malware that would do this? I have McAfee on the computer, as well as the Windows Security. I don't know what else to do,

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

@MEL7285, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Update or Reinstall Network Drivers

Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause connectivity issues. Follow these steps to update or reinstall your Wi-Fi drivers:

Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.

Expand the Network adapters section.

Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and select Update driver.

Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

If no update is found, right-click the adapter again, select Uninstall device, and restart your laptop.

After rebooting, Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver.

Alternatively, you can download the latest drivers directly from HP's support page for your model.

Disable Power Saving for Wi-Fi Adapter

Power-saving settings can sometimes disable the Wi-Fi adapter. To prevent this:

Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter under Network adapters and select Properties.

Go to the Power Management tab.

Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Click OK to save changes.

Run Network Troubleshooter

Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can detect and fix network issues:

Press Windows + I to open Settings.

Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.

Click Run next to Network Adapter and follow the on-screen instructions.

Perform a System Restore

If the issue started recently, performing a system restore might help:

Press Windows + S, type System Restore, and select Create a restore point.

In the System Properties window, click System Restore.

Follow the prompts to restore your system to a point before the issue began.

Run HP Diagnostics

HP provides diagnostic tools that can help identify hardware issues:

Visit the HP Diagnostics page.

Download and run the tool to check for hardware problems.

Also, refer to this guide: HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 10) | HP® Support

I hope this helps.
