Hi Folks

It's the first time I'm here. I'm from Germany so please don't write in to difficult terms.

Realtek RTL8821CE802.11ac  WLAN!

Your workin in the web and suddenly it crashes. All other devices have no problem with the WLAN web at the same time. I Tried out anything I found in the internet. Deacivated the card and reactivated it, the power supply solutions are all done. All updates are on the laptop. HP says its the newest driver I can get.

I'm nearly to throw the realtek away and buy something different. Or is anyone here who can help?

I read all the helps and tips but they didn't work on my laptop.

Greetings for Germany

Rag

Hi:

You didn't mention what the model number or product number of your notebook is or the Realtek driver version and date is, but here is the latest Realtek Wi-Fi driver HP currently has available for that problematic card:

Realtek RTL8xxx Wireless LAN Drivers

Version 2024.10.230.600

sp162860.exe

OPERATING SYSTEM(S):
Microsoft Windows 10 version 2004 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 10 version 20H2 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 10 version 21H1 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 10 version 21H2 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 10 version 22H2 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 24H2 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 11 version 21H2 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 11 version 22H2 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 11 version 23H2 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 11 version 24H2 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows 11 version 25H2 (64-bit)
Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC 64-bit
Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2021 LTSC 64-bit

As far as replacing the card, your options will be extremely limited due to the fact that the RTL8821CE only comes with one antenna wire and most other Wi-Fi cards use two antenna wires in order to work properly.

Hello Paul,

thanks vor the quick reply. I got the new driver installed and it's working.

Now I'm waiting for things not to happen.🕰.

I'll post next week about what will not happen

Hello Paul,

the net was lost again just a few minutes ago. I think it must be the antenna.. The FritzBox woks in the other room behind my back and the laptop in front of me. May be I absorb the signal But why won't it start again when I'm gone? I'll try another place to work. Perhaps something will change.

Is there no space for a second antenna? I haven't opened the laptop yet.

There will be room to add a second antenna wire and install a different card, but you would need to look up the service manual for your notebook to see what better cards may be supported.

The RTL8821CE card only has one terminal to connect an antenna to.

What is the full model number or product number of your PC?

Hi, Rag:

You should be able to upgrade to this model Wi-Fi adapter/part number if you add a second antenna wire.

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro 160 MHz PCI-e + USB WW with 2 antenna(s)  HP part # L35282-005.

One of those cards should be readily available on eBay.

If you don't add a second wire, connect the single antenna to the Wi-Fi card's main antenna terminal and you will have to do without Bluetooth as the auxiliary terminal provides the Bluetooth reception.

For some reason HP does not have a service manual for the 255 G8, so you should be able use the manual from the 255 G9 as a guide to open up the notebook and remove and replace the Wi-Fi adapter.

I did find a service teardown video for the 255 G8:
