I am trying to set up Wake on LAN on my HP 14z-dk100 CTO laptop. I've never tried to do this before so I'm a total newbie to WOL. WOL now works if the laptop is in sleep mode but NOT when it is powered down. I really would like to be able to wake it from the powered down state.
I have changed all of the properties on my Ethernet driver to include all of the references to Wake on LAN to enabled. What I haven't been able to find are are references in the BIOS for Power Management. Does this exist?
At this point, I can remotely restart the laptop if it is in sleep mode but can't if it is powered off. What else do I need to change to start my laptop when it is powered off? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
HP 14z-dk100 CTO - all suggested drivers have been updated
Windows 11 Home version 22H2 (OS Build 22624.1680) - all current updates applied

I did get this to work. I can now tell Google to start my laptop from anywhere - really neat.
Here are the steps that I took to get it working:
- I enabled all of the properties on my Ethernet card that reference Wake on LAN (Shutdown Wake-On-Lan, Wake on Magic Packet, Wake on pattern match) and set WOL & Shutdown Link Speed to 10 Mbps First
- Disabled Fast Startup - see bottom of picture
- Updated the BIOS and all other suggestions via HP (also tried to update the NIC driver but that was up to date)
- Changed NIC Power Management settings - Device manager/Network adapters/properties of controller (right click)/Power management
I found other suggestions on the internet which are probably needed for different types of PCs but this is what worked on my HP 14z-dk100 CTO laptop.
Next I'll be putting my servers on a smart power strip and turning on WOL. I'm finding this really useful.

According to https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/windows-11/how-to-enable-wake-on-lan-on-windows-11
"If the computer is off, you can look at the Ethernet adapter, and if you see blinking lights, it indicates that the adapter is active."
The light on my Ethernet adapter is not blinking when the computer is turned off. Would anyone be able to tell me what I need to change to keep it active so it can receive the magic packet?
