I want to upgrade my wireless card because I want a 5ghz (dual-band) connection. Which wireless card models will work in my device?

Hello, you can see in page 57 on your maintenance and service guide all Wi-Fi cards indicates compatible by HP:

Any cards is indicates compatible with Dual-band 5 GHz Wi-Fi, so maybe any cards in this list are compatible.. Maybe you can install an other card not listed but we can't know what is compatible.. 

Otherwise if you want a 5 GHz Wi-Fi card and to be sure it is compatible with your PC, the easier option is to use an USB adapter same this:

There are no BIOS whitelists in the dv6/7-7xxx Intel notebook models.

You can replace the internal wifi card with this one...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

The card can be bought on Amazon or eBay.

Do your search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.
