Hi, I wonder if anyone has advice for a novice. I have a pavillion g6 2309a laptop. My Wifi card is broken. It is a Ralink rt5390. could someone be so kind as to advise me of the best card I could use in my laptop.
In advance I truely appreciate you help.

Your laptop is likely still whitelisted which means the BIOS Code will prevent the laptop from booting up if any wireless card other than the ones listed in the Service Manual, with an HP Part number, is inserted in the slot.
So, the best card you can install is this one:
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 802.11b/g/n 2×2 WiFi and Bluetooth Combo Adapter 670290-001
See pages 50-51
I agree the Ralink cards are not premium hardware to say the least. The Intel one linked above will be much, much better.
