When undocked the laptop is connected via Wi-Fi. When you connect a rj45 cable (either directly or through a dock) the ethernet connection is successful and both connections are present. After 30-60 sec the Wi-Fi will disconnect. This is a problem as when our users go to disconnect from their docks they lose connection to their applications and websites.
Tried the following fixes:
1. HP image assist - no updates.
2. Disable "HP LAN/WLAN/WWAN Switching UWP" service, restarting the laptop. No change.
3. LAN / WLAN Auto Switching in BIOS is already disabled.
4. Prioritize the Wi-Fi connection and use ethernet as backup. The menu "Network Adapters > Advanced Settings > Adapters and Bindings" is no longer there so now you must use metric settings. Right click the adapter > Properties > Properties IPv4 > Advanced > Uncheck Automatic metric and manually set one. Set Wi-Fi to 1 and ethernet to 5 on both IPv4 and IPv6. No change even after restart.
Our goal is to keep Wi-Fi connected even when docked so when they unplug the connection stays active.
Thanks,
