Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Are you referring to the wireless connection setup?
  • Are you trying to use mobile Hotspot?
  • Are you trying to project display using wireless connectivity?
  • What is the exact issue with the Wifi direct?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi

My TV is an LG Smart TV and it says I can connect to it using Wi-Fi Direct. When the TV is searching for my Laptop it comes back with the message "No Wi-Fi Direct Devices found." I am not sure whether my laptop has this facility but if it has I do not know how to switch it on.

Regards

Graham

Thank you for posting back.

I have checked the specifications of your laptop and your laptop is not compatible with wireless direct.

Please refer the product specifications page of your laptop to know more information. Link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04774324

To use Miracast the wireless card should support hosted network. Since your laptop was not shipped with a dual-band wireless card you cannot use wireless direct on your PC.

Check whether the wireless display you want to project to supports Miracast

Try the following suggestions:

•Verify that your computer is connected to WiFi.

•Restart your computer. Then restart the wireless display and adapter. If using an adapter, remove the adapter from the TV or monitor, restart your device, reinsert the wireless display adapter in the TV or monitor, and attempt to display again.

•If you are using a wireless display adapter, set the video source to the correct HDMI port (the one that the wireless adapter is connected to). To do this, check the video source settings on your HDTV, monitor, or projects. For instructions, check the information that came with your device or go to the manufacturer's website.

•If the adapter didn’t connect, open the Action Center, click All Settings, click Devices, and then click Connected Devices. Click Add a device, and then select the wireless display or wireless display adapter.

If the issue still persists try updating the wireless display adapter using HP support assistant on your PC and check if it helps.

Also, try the steps recommended below to check if your laptop supports hosted networks.

1. Open cmd with administrative privileges. TO do that press Win+X then press A

2. type in the following command

netsh WLAN set hostednetwork mode=allow

3. Now check by the following command

netsh WLAN show settings

Refer to this article to know more information about Sharing Screen Using Miracast.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
