Hi @springfield45,
I reviewed the post comprehensively. You've displayed remarkable patience, profound troubleshooting skills and infinite patience to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂
Please try these steps:
. Before proceeding with these steps, create a Restore Point.
- Open Control Panel, change view to Small Icons, then select "Recovery".
- After creating a Restore Point, open Device Manager.
- Open the "Network Adapter" list, and find the WiFi adapter.
- Right Click the driver, and select "Disable“ and “Re-Enable”
- Check if Wifi connects. If not, continue with the steps below.
- Open CMD as Admin: Copy the following commands, and press enter after each one.
-
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
netsh int tcp show global (Check if All settings have taken effect)
Reboot the system and see if it works.
If it continues, try this step.
1. Open CMD with Administrator
2. Type :
sc config storsvc type= own
( this resets this service to its default state )
3. Restart the PC. and check again.
Also, try these steps if the issue persists:
1) Start Menu > Control Panel > Administrative Tools for the Classic View (long list of items) or Start Menu > Control Panel > > Performance and Maintenace > Administrative Tools for Category View (colorful, big icons).
2) Double-click Services.
3) In this window, click the Name column header (where it says “Name”) to sort by the service name.
4) Scroll down to find WLAN AutoConfig service. Stop the service first. Then restart it and make sure that it runs automatically.
5) Make sure that dependency services are also stopped and restarted.
Finally, if nothing works, please perform a Microsoft pus button reset from this link: http://hp.care/2tz94m9
Then try again, This should fix the issue for you.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Hi @springfield45,
Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums. After reading your post I see that you require assistance regarding wireless connection issues. It will be a delight to assist you here. 🙂 Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. 🙂 Kudos to you on that score. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
- Did you try to update the Wi-Fi adapter driver from device manager?
- Does it work with a Hardwired Ethernet connection?
For now please try these steps: It looks like a driver issue.
Please check if you are able to go online with a hardwired Ethernet cable connected to the computer. If you are, then please follow these steps:
- Right-Click on start button> click device manager> network adapters>then select the network adapter drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
- Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
- Then restart the computer and update the network driver from this link: http://hp.care/2sV5SOu please install it in Windows 8 compatibility mode.
Otherwise please simply do this:
Right-Click on start button> click device manager> network adapters>then select the network adapter drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
Then restart the computer and check if you are able to connect to the internet.
These links are good for troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues.

Tried everything that was possible without internet.
I know it's a software as opposed to physical, because I used a Linux Live CDd
and had Wi-Fi (Internet) working.
I didn't originally update drivers.
I think I thought I was hitting F10 or F11 but rather hit F12 numerous times
I see my routers and others, when I attempt to log in I get this message "No, Internet Secured"
If Ethenet cable when attached, shows enabled, but no internet connection.
