I completely reset my laptop to factory settings, so everything got deleted off it and windows re downloaded. Problem is still persisting, honestly don't think there is much else to do?
Thank you for your efforts though

Hi, I tried the network test with F2, it says: "UEFI Networking does not appear to be supported or enabled not the system. Please check the BIOS settings to make sure UEFI network options ROMs are enabled and that UEFI network boot is enabled."
What now?

Exactly same thing is happening with my laptop (Pavilion 17-f208nx) also. Tried every kind of troubleshooting. no results at all. No BSOD or error messages just WIFI goes off randomly (but very frequently) then system freezes (Ctrl + Alt + Del doesn't even work) and only thing left is to press the power button to turn off the laptop and restart again. happens only with built-in chip (broadcom). Ethernet and external usb wifi adapters works fine if built-in is disabled.

Tried changing the registry values, through command prompt, windows update, drivers update manually through hp drivers website and though HP assistance (including the broadcom driver 7.35.351.0 which is not even listed in the drivers page of my laptop), complete format and fresh install of windows 10 (all builds from 10240 to 15063 & even windows 8.1 which was the default / factory build in my laptop which worked fine until  i upgraded to windows 10.

only thing i can think of before this problem appears is updating the Bios from F.43 Rev.A to F.53 Rev.A

and i'm sure this latest bios (F.53 Rev.A) is the culprit. An update from HP for Bios is required to solve this problem.

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums.  After reading your post I see that you require assistance regarding wireless connection issues. It will be a delight to assist you here. 🙂 Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. 🙂 Kudos to you on that score. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you try to update the Wi-Fi adapter driver from device manager?

For now please try these steps: It looks like a driver issue.

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> network adapters>then select the network adapter drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the network driver from this link: http://hp.care/2uee28w  please install it in Windows 8 compatibility mode.

These links are good for troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues.

Also please try these steps if the issue persists:

. Before proceeding with these steps, create a Restore Point.

- Open Control Panel, change view to Small Icons, then select "Recovery".
- After creating a Restore Point, open Device Manager.
- Open the "Network Adapter" list, and find the WiFi adapter.
- Right Click the driver, and select "Disable“ and “Re-Enable”
- Check if Wifi connects. If not, continue with the steps below.
- Open CMD as Admin:  Copy the following commands, and press enter after each one.

-

netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled

netsh int tcp show global  (Check if All settings have taken effect)

Reboot the system and see if it works.

If not try these steps:

1. Open CMD with Administrator

2. Type :

sc config storsvc type= own

( this resets this service to its default state )

3. Restart the PC.

If  it still persists try these steps:

1) Start Menu > Control Panel > Administrative Tools for the Classic View (long list of items) or Start Menu > Control Panel > > Performance and Maintenace > Administrative Tools for Category View (colorful, big icons).

2) Double-click Services.

3) In this window, click the Name column header (where is says “Name”) to sort by the service name.

4) Scroll down to find WLAN AutoConfig service. Stop the service first. Then restart it and make sure that it runs automatically.

5) Make sure that dependency services are also stopped and restarted.

Finally, try these steps:

Control Panel > set icon view > Network and Sharing >
Left-Click on your active WiFi connection (in blue next to the word "Connections" >
In WiFi Status >> Click on Properties >
In WiFi Properties >> Scroll down the middle section and look for "Internet Protocol Version 4" >
Left-Click to Highlight the selection > click Properties >
Click to select "Use the following IP Address:" >
Enter your IP address, subnet mask, and gateway information
Click to select "Use the following DNS server addresses"
Click OK to save and exit.

restart the computer and check again. if there are no hardware issues with the wireless card it should fix it for you.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, please. Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Yes! it gives me Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver  7.35.344.0 Rev.A which is the same that is listed on HP drivers website. Tried installing from HP drivers website also as you suggested in Windows 8 compatibility mode but still the system freezes randomly.

This is the first time i've seen this suggestion anyways when i tried putting in the values that appear on my router page it gives a warning  "The default gateway is not on the same network segment (subnet) that is defined by IP address and subnet mask..."

Just to make sure i've double checked the values from router page with windows settings.

1.jpg

when clicking yes, the network becomes unidentified network and browsers starts showing DNS probe finished, no internet...etc.. and upon troubleshooting the network it finds that "DHCP is not enabled..." when it finished reparing this issue with success the system removes the provided information and an automatic selection option were choosen by system. internet works.

After all of the suggestions the problem still persists. system freezes unexpectedly / randomly and requires power button reset. The problem is not with the router or any other pc or mobile device which i can connect and use fine. I've told you that even the ethernet and external usb adapter works fine. Above all the problem appears within 5-10 minutes after fresh installing of Windows (either Windows 10 or Windows 8.1).

And let's not forget about error message in network test performed pressing F2 before boot "UEFI Networking does not appear to be supported or enabled not the system. Please check the BIOS settings to make sure UEFI network options ROMs are enabled and that UEFI network boot is enabled."

And finally just to remind that the problem started after updating the BIOS to ver. F.53 Rev.A

Thank you.

Hi @DeadlyKinG,

I read the quick reply. Great troubleshooting, a brilliant effort, and remarkable troubleshooting skills were displayed by you to try and resolve the issue. Kudos you for a job well done. 🙂

There is more to it than meets the eye. We need to look at it from a different perspective.

  • The network protocols work fine. TCP/IP and other network protocols. This is because both the USB wifi adapter and the ethernet cable work correctly.
  • If the bios update had interfered with network issues, then Both the USB wireless adapter and the hard wired connection would not have worked.
  • It is a possible coincidence that the bios got updated and the wireless card installed in the computer broke.

  • So you need to change the wireless adapter and this should fix the issue. If the unit is under warranty please contact HP phone support to get this done via this link: http://hp.care/2moMFSc  and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Otherwise please contact a local Best Buy or Staples technician to replace the wireless card with a  compatible one.
  • The UEFI tests also determine this.
  • To further eliminate that it is not the bios, you could roll the bios back from this link: http://hp.care/2rZhONT please try step 1.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
