Do you think I should downgrade to that driver version?

I checked the RSSI via CMD and it showed around -53 to -60, but when I went through the Router Admin, it showed -86 to -90. I'm not sure which is accurate.

The 802.11 settings in the View Network section of the Control Panel are also blank, as shown in the following image:

You're very welcome.

You would have to ask Paul0311 for the 2024.0.10.233 driver installation file because I can't find any such version--not from HP and not from Microsoft.

The Microsoft Update Catalog website link I posted should have every driver version Realtek released for the RTL8821CE Wi-Fi adapter.

There's a 2024.0.10.223 version with a driver date of 5/21/2021, but I can't find a 2024.0.10.233 driver version.

You can trust the Rssi value. -50 to -63 (-50dBm to -63 dBm) is good signal strength. That should represent signal strength that the adapter sees. I use a wif analyzer and find that the Rssi value is in the range of what the analyzer reports although the analyzer continuously updates signal strength.

For the security type setting: Control panel -- Network & internet -- Network & sharing center and click on wif-2 (your_ssid).  Then Wireless Properties -- Security Tab

Security type:  WPA2 or WPA3-Personal

Encryption: AES

The router settings and your wifi security should both use current security protocols. They probably do but it is worth checking.

There is an Advanced Settings button on my system but it only has an unchecked box for "Enable Federal Information Processing standards".  My guess is this a USA only setting and probably does not matter, so your blank page is just normal and nothing to be concerned about.

Adapter driver: I'm running Windows 10, so I don't know if my driver would work on windows 11. If your running win 11 it might not work so I would be reluctant to use that driver. Actually, I have been monitoring this forum to see if someone has successfully migrated to windows 11 and is using the RTL8821ce adapter and which driver they use. HP does not show any support for windows 11 for my laptop.

@Paul0311

You can always try the in-place upgrade to W11 and if the Wi-Fi doesn't work as expected, you can go back to W11 very easily as long as you do it within 10 days.

There are no specific W11 Realtek Wi-Fi drivers.

If you explore the driver folder that is created when you run a Realtek Wi-Fi driver, it will be labeled W10--even for the W11 drivers on the newest driver files.

They work on W10 or W11 so there should be no reason why the current driver you have if it is 2024.0.10.223 wouldn't work and any of the older or newer driver versions.

Ok I will try your suggestion, thanks, and by the way I am using windows 11 on an unsupported device, so far it is working fine.
About the wifi card, I don't know it is affected by Windows 11 or not, because previously my wifi card was RTL8723BE.

First, I apologize for typing the wrong adapter driver version number. It is 2024.0.10.223 (not 233). And it does have a Driver date of 5/21/2021 as Paul_Tikkanen reports. I received it in a normal Windows update but it is no longer listed in my Windows update history. And the hp support page for my laptop does not spell out the driver version numbers so I don't know where one could find it.

Thanks Paul_Tikkanen for the suggestion on upgrading my system to windows 11. I'm simply following the hp support network driver pages and didn't fully understand that a driver could be compatible on both windows 10 and windows 11. I'll consider it although I have had no problems with my hp windows 10 laptop and struggle with the decision to upgrade.

You're very welcome.

HP did not provide any W11 drivers for consumer-class notebooks made prior to the time W11 came out in 2021.

That doesn't necessarily mean that the notebook can't run W11.

Usually if a driver is needed for a device on W11, the W10 drivers from the support page will work.

My notebook was made in 2020, and runs W11 just fine and as you can see from the link below, HP did not provide any W11 drivers for it.

@BondanSullivan

I would be shocked if installing driver version 2024.0.10.223 will make any difference in the issue you are having, but if you want the HP version of the 2024.0.10.223 driver, here it is:
