Elitebook 850 G2

Windows 10 x64 no longer sees the Intel AC7256 wifi adapter in my Elitebook 850 G2. Device Manager says "Windows cannot load drivers for this device (Code 31)". The WiFi part of the adapter won't install, though it  is listed with the yellow triangle in Device Manager, however, the bluetooth part is working fine. Ethernet also working fine.

Failed fix attempts include:

  • Installing the Windows 8 drivers from HP site.
  • Installing latest Intel Proset drivers from Intel.
  • Tried different OS's (Windows 7, Linux - still not detected in either ruling out Registry error)
  • Replacing the adapter with identical one.
  • Power Management for the adapter is disabled.
  • Reset the Winsock catalogue.
  • Running Windows  and HP troubleshooters.

Event viewer suggests the first recorded error (18/9/22) as:

Device ROOT/NET/0000 had a problem starting

Driver Name: oem93.inf

Service:Netwtw04

Problem:0x1F

I appreciate that there are no Windows 10 x64 HP oem drivers listed for this adapter, but it had been working fine for months until it suddenly disappeared in September. I'm suspecting a motherboard error or chipset driver issue, but any hints or ideas on where to go next for a fix appreciated.
