My HP ENVY 16 inch Laptop PC 16-h1000 has lost all wifi and Bluetooth adaptors. They were working fine a week ago, but now they are gone. When I look in the BIOS, there is an "!" next to Network. I tried rebooting, running diagnostics and updating the chipset, all to no avail. What else could I do without opening up the laptop?

Hi @alalalp, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It looks like your laptop's network hardware (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) is not being detected properly, possibly due to a driver issue, a corrupted firmware setting, or even a hardware failure. Since you've already checked the BIOS and it shows an exclamation mark next to "Network," try these steps before considering hardware inspection:
Power Cycle the Laptop
- Turn off the laptop.
- Unplug the charger and remove any external devices.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Restart the laptop and check if Wi-Fi/Bluetooth is back.
Reset BIOS Settings
- Boot into BIOS (F10 during startup).
- Look for an option to "Load Setup Defaults" or "Reset BIOS to Factory Settings."
- Save and exit, then check if the network adapters return.
Check Windows Device Manager
- Press Win + X → Device Manager.
- Expand Network Adapters and Bluetooth sections.
- If missing, click View > Show Hidden Devices to check if they appear.
- If you see "Unknown Device" or a yellow exclamation mark, try updating/reinstalling drivers.
Run Network Troubleshooter
- Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Run the Network Adapter troubleshooter.
Reinstall Intel Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Drivers
Since your laptop likely has an Intel AX-series Wi-Fi module, download and install the latest drivers from the Intel website:
- Intel Wi-Fi Driver
- Intel Bluetooth Driver
Reset Network Settings
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings.
- Click Network reset, restart, and check if the adapters return.
Perform a System Restore (If the issue started recently)
- Open Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the issue started.
Check for Windows Updates & Firmware Updates
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.
- Also, install the latest HP firmware/BIOS updates from the HP Support page.
If none of these steps work, there might be a hardware issue with the Wi-Fi module.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
